FAQ

Good questions.

Still stuck? Report a link and we’ll look into it.

Is it really free?

Yes, and there is no hidden limit on the number of downloads. The project is free to use; if that ever has to change, it will be stated here first rather than discovered at the download button.

Where do my files go?

Straight to your device’s downloads folder. The media is streamed through while the download runs and nothing is kept afterwards — no library, no history, no archive.

Why doesn’t my link work?

Private posts, posts from protected accounts, deleted posts and paid content can’t be fetched. Make sure the post is public, then copy the link again from the share button. The message under the field says what exactly went wrong.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, in any current browser — nothing to install. Safari on iOS saves the file to Downloads in the Files app, from where you can move it to Photos. Android browsers put it straight into Downloads.

Is downloading allowed?

Videospeichern is a technical tool, in the same way a browser is. Copyright in a video stays with whoever made it, so save material you own, material you have permission to use, or material where a private copy is permitted where you live. What you do with a saved file is your responsibility.
