How to save Pinterest videos and full-size images
Download video pins as MP4, image pins at their original resolution and multi-page pins as a ZIP. Works with pin.it short links and regional Pinterest sites.

Pinterest is built for collecting, but its save button only saves a pin to one of your boards, not to your device. The images you see in the grid are cropped previews, and video pins play in a looping player with no download option. This guide shows how to get the actual files: the full-size image, the video with its sound, or every page of a multi-page pin.
What you get
Paste a pin into the Pinterest video downloader and Videospeichern offers what the pin contains:
- Video pins: an MP4 in the qualities Pinterest serves, with sound, and an MP3 of the audio.
- Image pins: the image in the original resolution Pinterest holds, which is usually much sharper than the preview in your feed.
- Multi-page pins (story or idea pins): every page on its own card, and a ZIP with all of them.
No Pinterest account is needed. Videospeichern reads pins the way a visitor without an account sees them.
Step 1: copy the pin link
In the Pinterest app: open the pin, tap Share (the arrow or the three dots, depending on the version) and choose Copy link. The app usually gives you a short pin.it/… address.
In a browser: open the pin on its own page and copy the address from the address bar. It looks like pinterest.com/pin/1234567890/.
Short links are followed through Pinterest's own redirect to the pin they name, and tracking parameters are dropped on the way. Regional sites such as pinterest.de, pinterest.co.uk or pinterest.fr work too.
Step 2: paste and read
Paste the link into the field on the downloader page. The Pinterest chip confirms it was recognised. Tap Save. After a moment the result card shows the pin's content.
Step 3: save the file
- For a video pin, pick a quality. The top row is the sharpest. Tap its Save button.
- For an image pin, tap Save on the Original row. The row shows the image's pixel dimensions so you know what you are getting.
- For a multi-page pin, save pages individually or tap Save all as ZIP.
After a short countdown the download starts by itself. If nothing happens, tap Didn't start? Download again.
Why the image is bigger than the preview
Pinterest keeps each uploaded image in several sizes. The grid shows small, often cropped versions so the feed loads fast. Right-clicking or long-pressing an image in the feed therefore gives you one of those small versions. Videospeichern asks for the original size instead. If the uploader posted a small image in the first place, the original is small too; nothing can add detail that was never uploaded.
Video pins and sound
Video pins have an audio track, even though Pinterest often plays them muted in the feed. The MP4 you save keeps that audio. If you only want the sound, choose MP3 · audio only. For some pins, especially short animations, there is no audio at all; the card says so and does not offer an MP3.
Pins that link elsewhere
Many pins are bookmarks for content on other websites. The image on the pin may be a thumbnail of a recipe blog or a shop page. Videospeichern saves what the pin itself carries, which is that image. If the pin points to a video on another platform, paste the original video's link instead, if it comes from one of the supported platforms.
Where the files go
On an iPhone, Safari saves into the Downloads folder of the Files app. For images, open the file and tap Share → Save Image to add it to Photos. On Android, Chrome saves to the Download folder, which gallery apps show. On a computer, the files go to your browser's download folder. The guide on finding downloaded videos on iPhone and Android covers the phone side in more detail.
When a pin does not load
- The pin was deleted or its board was made secret. Secret boards are only visible to their owner and collaborators.
- The short link is broken. Copy it again from the app, or copy the full address from a browser.
- Pinterest refused the request. This happens occasionally. Wait a minute and try again.
Using images responsibly
Pinterest is full of images that were first published somewhere else, and the person who pinned something is often not the person who made it. Downloading an image for a mood board or for reference is a common use. Publishing it, printing it for sale or using it in your own marketing requires the rights holder's permission. The guide on whether downloading social media videos is legal explains the basics that apply to images too.
