How to save videos and carousels from Threads

Threads posts often hold more than one thing: a video next to three photos, or a swipeable row of clips. The app lets you share them but not save them. This guide shows how to download a single item or the whole post from a public Threads profile, and what to do with the files afterwards.

What you can save

From a public Threads post, Videospeichern offers:

• videos in the resolutions Meta serves, as MP4 with sound,
• the audio of any video, as an MP3,
• photos at the largest size available for the post,
• carousels, where each item can be saved on its own or all at once as a ZIP.

Posts from private profiles are only visible to approved followers who are signed in. Videospeichern never signs in, so those posts cannot be saved.

Step 1: copy the link to the post

In the Threads app, tap the share icon (the paper plane) under the post and choose Copy link. On the web, open the post on its own page and copy the address. Both threads.net and threads.com addresses are fine; Threads moved to the .com domain and the old links still lead to the same posts.

Make sure you copy the link of the post that actually contains the media. If you are looking at a reply, the media may belong to the post it replies to.

Step 2: paste the link

Open the Threads video downloader and paste the link into the field. The Threads chip appears once the address is recognised. Tap Save.

Step 3: choose items

The result card mirrors the structure of the post.

A single video shows its qualities, sharpest first, with an estimated size, followed by MP3 · audio only.

A single photo shows one row labelled Original with its dimensions.

A carousel shows every item on its own card, numbered in the order the post shows them. Each card has its own Save button. Above them, Save all as ZIP downloads the full set as one archive.

Tap Save on what you want. A short countdown runs while the file is prepared, then the download starts. If it does not, tap Didn't start? Download again.

Working with the ZIP

A ZIP file is one download that contains several files. It is the fastest way to keep a whole carousel.

• iPhone: the ZIP lands in the Downloads folder of the Files app. Tap it once and Files expands it into a folder next to it. From there, select the photos and videos, tap Share and choose Save to add them to Photos.
• Android: open the ZIP in the Files app and tap Extract. Gallery apps see the extracted files.
• Computer: double-click the ZIP on Windows or macOS to open or extract it.

Very large carousels may be too big for one archive. In that case Videospeichern tells you so, and you can save the items one by one instead.

Quality and sound

Videos arrive with their sound, in the qualities Threads offers for that post. The top row is the sharpest; the lower rows are the same video with fewer pixels and a smaller file. If a video row shows no MP3 option, the video has no audio track. That is common for short animations and screen recordings.

Threads and Instagram

Threads is run by the same company as Instagram, and a Threads account is tied to an Instagram account. That link does not matter here: Videospeichern reads public Threads posts the way any browser without a login does, and no Instagram account is involved. If the same content was also posted on Instagram, you can save it there with the Instagram video downloader instead.

When it fails

• "Only visible after signing in": the profile is private, or Threads showed a login wall. See why private posts cannot be downloaded.
• "Not found": the post was deleted or the link was copied incompletely.
• The card shows only text: the post has no media of its own. The media may be in a quoted post; open that post and copy its link.

Using what you save

Photos and videos on Threads belong to the people who posted them. Keeping a copy for yourself is a different thing from posting it again elsewhere. Credit and permission matter; the guide on whether downloading social media videos is legal covers the basics.
