How to save a TikTok video on an iPhone
Copy the link in TikTok, paste it into Videospeichern in Safari, and move the MP4 from the Files app into Photos. Every step, plus the snags people hit.

Saving a TikTok on an iPhone takes three things: the link to the video, a browser, and one extra tap at the end to move the file where you want it. You do not need a second app, a shortcut or a TikTok account. This guide walks through each step in Safari, explains where iOS puts the file, and covers the few things that commonly go wrong.
Before you start
Videospeichern works with public TikTok videos, the ones anyone can watch in a browser without signing in. Videos from private accounts and posts shared only with friends are out of reach, because Videospeichern never logs in to TikTok on your behalf. If you are unsure whether a video is public, open its link in a private Safari tab: if it plays there, it can be saved.
You also need a little free storage. A short TikTok in full resolution is usually a few megabytes; the quality list in step four shows an estimated size for every option before you download anything.
Step 1: copy the video link in TikTok
Open the video in the TikTok app and tap Share, the arrow on the right edge of the screen. In the sheet that opens, tap Copy link. TikTok puts a short address such as vm.tiktok.com/… on your clipboard. That short form is fine; Videospeichern follows it to the full video page before reading anything.
If you are watching TikTok in Safari instead of the app, copy the address from the address bar while the video is open.
Step 2: open Videospeichern in Safari
Switch to Safari and open the TikTok video downloader. The paste bar sits at the top of the page. Tap Paste; iOS may ask whether Safari may read the clipboard, and you can allow it once. You can also long-press the field and choose Paste yourself.
As soon as the link is in the field, a TikTok chip appears next to it. That chip means the address was recognised as a TikTok post. Tap Save.
Step 3: wait for the post to be read
Videospeichern now asks TikTok for the video the same way a logged-out browser would. This normally takes a moment. The result card then shows a preview frame, the author and every version of the file that TikTok offers.
If TikTok answers with an error, the card tells you which one: a deleted video, a private account or a temporary refusal. A temporary refusal usually clears if you wait a minute and paste the link again.
Step 4: choose MP4 or MP3
The card lists the video qualities TikTok delivers, labelled by resolution, with the sharpest at the top. Pick one and tap its Save button. The file you receive is the clean copy TikTok streams to its own player, so no watermark is burned into the picture.
Below the video rows you will find MP3 · audio only. Choose it if you only want the sound, for example a voice-over or a song you want to listen to offline. The MP3 is converted when you ask for it and is not kept afterwards. If you are not sure which format suits you, the guide on MP4 vs MP3 explains the difference.
Step 5: let the download start
After you tap Save, a short countdown appears while the file is prepared. When it reaches zero, the download starts by itself. Safari shows a small download arrow in the address bar; tap it to watch the progress.
If nothing happens, tap Didn't start? Download again in the same window. On iOS a download occasionally needs this second tap, especially when Safari is set to ask before downloading.
Where the video ends up
Safari saves files to the Downloads folder in the Files app. By default that folder lives in iCloud Drive; if you changed it under Settings → Safari → Downloads (on recent iOS versions Settings → Apps → Safari → Downloads), look in the location you chose, for example On My iPhone.
To find the file quickly, tap the download arrow in Safari's address bar and then the small magnifying glass next to the file. Files opens with the video selected.
Move the video into Photos
Most people want the clip in the Photos app, next to their own videos. From the Files app:
- Open the downloaded MP4 so it plays in the preview.
- Tap the Share button in the corner.
- Choose Save Video.
The video now appears in your library. You can delete the copy in Downloads afterwards so the clip does not take up space twice. The guide on finding downloaded videos on iPhone and Android goes through this in more detail, including what to do when Save Video is missing from the list.
TikTok photo posts
Some TikToks are not videos at all but a series of photos with music. When you paste such a link, Videospeichern lists each picture on its own card with its own Save button, plus a button that bundles all of them into one ZIP file. On an iPhone a ZIP opens in the Files app, which expands it into a folder with a tap. There is a separate guide to saving TikTok photo posts, since they behave differently from videos.
When it does not work
- "Only visible after signing in" or "private": the account is private or the video is limited to friends. Videospeichern has no way to reach it; see why private posts cannot be downloaded.
- The video was not found: it was deleted, or the link was cut off when copying. Copy it again from the Share sheet.
- Nothing happens after the countdown: tap Download again, and check the download settings of Safari in the Settings app.
- The file will not open: an interrupted download leaves an incomplete file. Delete it and save it again on a stable connection.
A word on what you save
A downloaded TikTok is still someone else's work. Saving a video to watch later is a different thing from uploading it again under your own name. If you want to reuse a clip, ask the creator. The guide on whether downloading social media videos is legal sets out the basic rules without pretending to be legal advice.
